It Begins

Hello everyone. Thank you for being patient with me as I have taken my sweet time in compiling a report from Denver for all of you. I think we are exactly two weeks in, which is weird. It feels like it's been a year already. A year of delightful 4 hour lectures and glamorous matching khaki pants... But there are some very nice things happening as well.  For example, a unit hike in Rocky Mountain National Park, where Fall was exploding everywhere you looked

An evening journey to neighboring Boulder with new friends Chris and Erik to see Blitzen Trapper YESSSSSSSS!! Chris did a very good job in the art of sneaky, candid photography and Blitzen did a very good job of bringing immense joy and satisfaction to all in attendance

Our first service project! A day spent pulling/chopping/annihilating Mullen, an invasive plant taking over a local state park. We worked with an enormous group of 6th graders from a nearby middle school, all very enthusiastic and determined. After the youngin's left we switched over to work on path construction/maintenance which involved wheelbarrows, buckets, dirts, and many other heavy things

An ISP (Idependent Service Project) with Margaret at a nearby Habitat for Humanity house. This particular project is a ladies build, meaning the house is constructed entirely by women from start to finish.  We were lucky enough to be assigned the task of cutting, transporting, and installing loads of glorious, fluffy insulation in the crawlspace! It was actually pretty fun for awhile as there was a fascinating nail gun involved.

And it was back to Boulder last night for another night of musical madness and magic and miraculous things as Dr. Dog performed and dazzled with glorious harmonies and whinny guitars and an unexpected but very much appreciated elaborate light show. Boulder is kind of finding a special place in my heart...

I'm loving Colorado. Happy birthday, Dad!
